Work

The majority of the work on The 1461 will centre around three distinct areas of the Olympic Cycle:

The Athletes

To any athlete, the Olympics remain the ultimate goal.

But the months and years of hard work, dedication and personal sacrifice are often forgotten, or even overlooked.

The first time many members of the public hear of the latest medal-winner is when they stand on the rostrum or appear on the evening news.

From rising prospects to established Olympians, this section features in-depth, narrative-led interviews with the individuals currently navigating the four-year cycle.

City of Angels

It’s the destination at the end of a 1,461-day journey.

The Games return to Southern California for the third time after 1932 and 1984. With such a rich sporting heritage, Los Angeles will spend its time wisely as it gets ready to host.

We’ll be looking closely at everything from qualification routes to venue deep-dives. Brand new sports and how the United States is preparing for the task of hosting the world’s best athletes in 2028.

The Process

The blueprint for the very highest of performances.

Behind every Olympic appearance, final start list and medal is a dedicated team.

In this section, we go backstage to speak with the architects of the cycle: the coaches, physiotherapists and performance directors.
