That’s why we’re keeping you up to speed with five stories you missed each month – one for each of the Olympic Rings. And no, they’re not colour-coded!
British American Football Association Announces Nike Partnership

Ahead of Flag Football’s Olympic debut in Los Angeles, Nike has announced partnerships with three countries as it expands its international commitment to the sport.
The British American Football Association (BAFA) have said that the partnership will “unlock innovation, opportunity and growth” across the sport, with Great Britain Women’s Flag player Marta Mathews calling the partnership “special”
“As I look ahead to Olympic qualification, that support really matters,” said Mathews. “The journey isn’t always easy, and knowing you’ve got a partner who believes in you and the bigger picture gives an extra boost”
New GB Squash Organisation to Prepare for LA28

It’s hoped that a new commitment from the English, Welsh and Scottish national governing bodies of Squash will lead to a “clear, focused and unified structure for Olympic competition.”
The new GB Squash organisation will oversee the organisation and preparation of Great Britain’s squash players for Los Angeles.
“The formation of GB Squash is an important step in our preparations for squash’s first Olympic Games,” said England Squash CEO Mark Weilliams.
“The next few years will be an incredibly exciting time for our sport, and we should all look forward to LA28 with great anticipation, not least because we know our athletes will be aiming to contribute medals to the overall success of Team GB.”
Archery GB Appoints New CEO

As the national governing body for the sport of Archery in the UK, Archery GB is responsible for regulating and administering all levels of archery in the UK.
This includes the Archery GB National Squad and its Performance Development Pathways.
Sarah Jones has been appointed CEO and will take up the role in April.
“Stepping into the role of CEO at Archery GB offers an exciting opportunity to drive the sport’s next chapter, alongside a passionate community with huge ambition for the sport,” said Jones.
Jones’ most recent role was Wales Director of the King’s Trust. However, she has an extensive background in sports leadership, including as CEO of Wales Netball, Head of Development at Welsh Gymnastics, and Safeguarding Manager at the Welsh Rugby Union.
Jayne Ellis Named Badminton England Performance Director

Former GB Taekwondo Programme Manager and British Wheelchair Basketball Performance Director, Jayne Ellis, has been appointed Performance Director of Badminton England.
Ellis was a Performance Advisor with UK Sport for four years, and had taken on the role at Badminton England on an interim basis six months ago before being made permanent.
“The talent, commitment and ambition within this group is truly exciting,” said Ellis. “I firmly believe we have the potential to achieve something special as we build towards LA28 and beyond.”
Record-Breaking Winter Olympics for Team GB

The 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo saw Great Britain achieve several notable firsts.
It was the first time that Team GB had won multiple gold medals at a Winter Olympics, winning three in total:
- Matt Weston: Men’s Skeleton
- Charlotte Bankes + Huw Nightingale: Mixed Team Snowboard Cross
- Matt Weston + Tabitha Stoecker: Mixed Team Skeleton
The Gold in the Mixed Team Snowboard Cross was also the first Gold Great Britain had ever won on snow at the Winter Olympics, with all previous Golds coming on ice (Figure skating, Curling, Ice Hockey, Bobsleigh and Skeleton)
Five medals for Team GB in total represented the joint-best medal tally in the team’s history, matching the tally in both Sochi 2014 and PyeongChang 2018.
